The NEW & GREATLY IMPROVED 2016 Bowman Draft Baseball hobbyJUMBO boxes ($119.95) have more of a jumbo feel to them, delivering three autographs (SUPER JUMBO boxes ($185) delivering FIVE Autographs) versus the traditional one. The packs (12 per box) are bigger too, coming in at 32 cards each. These break down to 23 Bowman cards, seven Bowman Chrome and a pair of Refractors per Hobby pack.
BASE SET
As with recent years, there’s a huge focus on the year’s draft in the product. This carries over to not just the autographs, but the main set as well.
The 2016 Bowman Draft base set has 200 cards, mixing both 2016 draft picks and other prospects. All cards come with regular or paper Bowman and Bowman Chrome versions. And within those are their own mix of parallels.
2016 Bowman Draft Baseball Parallels:
AUTOGRAPHS
The majority of 2016 Bowman Chrome Draft Baseball signatures are Chrome Draft Pick Autographs. These are the first MLB autograph cards for these players. For most, these will go down as their key cards. Among them is Mickey Moniak, the first pick in the 2016 draft. He has signed an exclusive deal with Topps and this will be his MLB autograph debut.
The rainbow here starts with basic numbered Refractors before delving into color-specific versions: Purple Refractors, Blue Refractors, Green Refractors, Gold Refractors, Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1). These are also serial numbered. Wave Refractor parallels are also available for autographs.
Randomly inserted are 2016 Bowman Draft Baseball hot packs that have seven signed cards switched out for the Bowman Chrome base cards. These are done as exclusive Black Refractors.
The product has signatures in a couple of other places as well. Draft Night Autographs feature players taken in the June draft with images from the night. All are numbered as are the Gold, Red (/5) and Superfractor (1/1) parallels.
The line of All-America Game Autographs continues. These cards were originally signed back when the players were still in high school offering some of their earliest signatures. Gold Framed parallels are all one-of-ones.
INSERTS
2016 Bowman Draft Baseball has a few additional insert sets. MLB Draft History looks to the past with a checklist of retired players. These have Gold, Red (/5) and Superfractor (1/1) parallels. Select players have autographed versions as well.
Draft Dividends looks at players who entered the draft fresh out of high school. These have the same parallel structure as MLB Draft History, including autographs.
Bowman Scouts’ Fantasy Impact spotlights players collectors may want to keep an eye on when it comes to their fantasy leagues.
Top of the Class cards aren’t found in packs. Rather, they’re randomly inserted over-sized box toppers.
SUPER JUMBO BOXES
In addition to regular boxes, there are 2016 Bowman Draft Baseball Super Jumbo boxes. These have just five packs each. But these packs are more like small boxes with 120 cards. An autograph is included in each pack along with 78 regular Bowman cards, 33 Bowman Chrome, and eight Refractor parallels per pack.
