2013 Topps Chrome Baseball returns with its familiar mix of Refractor rainbows and rookie autographs, along with a few new wrinkles.

The 2013 Topps Chrome Baseball base set includes players from both the 2013 Topps Series 1 and Series 2 Baseball sets. Veterans and rookies share the checklist. Like last year, there will also be base set variation short prints. Base cards have nine Refractor parallels: Refractors, X-Fractors, Blue (#/199), Black (#/100), Sepia (#/75), Gold (#/50), Red (#/25), Atomic (#/10) and SuperFractor (1/1). Atomic Refractors and SuperFractors are hobby exclusives along with Printing Plates. There are also Auto Patch Variations (#/10).

Rookie Autographs lead the common chase. Signed on-card, they come with a very similar parallel structure as the base set. While there are no X-Fractor Rookie Autographs, basic Rookie Refractor Autographs are numbered to 499. All other Refractors are numbered to the same numbers as the base set Refractors.

2013 Topps Chrome Baseball has a new die-cut insert called Chrome Connections. The cards are shaped in such a way that collectors can fit them together in different combinations. Autographed and Relic versions are numbered to 25 or less.
Sticking with the die-cut theme are Back-to-Back Autographs. The double-sided cards have a pair of autographs and are printed on Refractor stock. Numbered to 5 and only in hobby packs, the cards use sticker autographs.

More first-year players sign for Red-Hot Rookies. The ten-card checklist includes only the top 2013 rookies. Autographs are done on-card". Each is numbered to 25.  The 1972 Topps Baseball design is given the Chrome treatment for its own insert set of current players. Autographs come numbered to 25.

Other autographed inserts in 2013 Topps Chrome Baseball include Triple Autographs (#/5) and Autographed Chrome Buybacks (#/10). The Ultimate Chase program from 2013 Topps Series 1 and Series 2 Baseball continues. Random boxes come with a Divison Die-Cut Box Loader (#/25). Printed on foil stock and cut in the shape of a division flag, the cards have five sticker autographs, one player from each team.

Random Refractor Hot Boxes are filled entirely with parallels. Collectors can also find redemptions for uncut sheets of Refractors and X-Fractors.

Besides Yasiel Puig, 2013 Topps Chrome includes all the greatest rookie and young super stars autos.  Included are autos of Cal Ripken, Ken Griffey JR, Mike Trout, Yu Darvish, Buster Posey, Miguel Cabrera, Willie Mays and Stan Musial.  And, as you see on the left, there are possible JUMBO PATCH AUTOS.

Chris came in Monday looking for some 2011 Football Rookies.  He tried three boxes of 2011 SP Authentic and pulled a Demarco Murray Auto Patch RC, THREE Jake Locker Autos, and a redemption for a Colin Kaepernick Auto Patch RC.  Chris loves 2012-13 Panini Basketball products with TWO ROOKIE CLASSES, so he tried a box of Innovation Basketball and pulled a redemption for a Gold Ink KOBE BRYANT auto #d/25.

James came in Friday and tried a box of 2013 Leaf Rookie Retro with all the greatest rookies of all time from all sports.  His box got him this 1952 TOPPS WILLIE MAYS AUTOGRAPHED RC certified by PSA/DNA as a PSA 10 Auto.  




John came in Thursday to pull more great Super Hits for Beckett Grading Event September 21st and 22nd.  This was the greatest Beckett Grading Event EVER.  Four Beckett Grading Employees were here to handle the crowd and receive about 2000 cards for grading.  If you missed this opportunity to have your favorite cards graded by the best, don't worry.  Beckett Grading will be back at Sports Cards Plus in January.

Sports Cards Plus a.k.a. The Super Hit Factory has secured FIVE of the BEST CASES in the Hobby of the most talked about product ever, 2012-13 Panini Flawless Basketball.  We are NOW taking reservations for a GROUP BREAK.  



 2012-13 Panini Flawless will deliver seven autographs, two jumbo memorabilia cards and a diamond- or emerald-embedded card in every 10 card box. No card in the set will be numbered higher than 25 and there will be a maximum of 20 complete base sets available. Diamond-encrusted base cards will be numbered to 20, and will be paralleled by an emerald-embedded version numbered to five and a diamond-embedded 1/1 version. 2012-13 Flawless Basketball is slated to release in early October.

Assuming there are 100 base cards and given there are is one base card per box, only 2600 boxes have been made.  This is approximately 1/5 as many boxes as were made of 2012-13 National Treasures Basketball.  Considering that precious jewels have been added to the base cards, all ten cards in the box are value-worthy hits.  One of the BIG national distributors told me only about 1000 boxes were made.  Whatever it is, it is one of the most limited products of all time.


National Treasures had Kyrie Irving as its Super Rookie draw, while Flawless has added Damian Lillard as a second Super Rookie.  Given the extremely limited production, the added quality and addition of Lillard autographed rookies, 2012-13 Panini Flawless Basketball boxes should start out at MORE THAN DOUBLE the current prices for 2012-13 National Treasures.


The Flawless Basketball Group Break will have TEN SLOTS per box and TWENTY SLOTS per two-box case.  Slots are starting at $159 and for people who order from the great state of Texas, the $159 includes cost for sales tax.

DAMIAN LILLARD AUTO RC AVAILABLE IN 2012-13 INTRIGUE BASKETBALL

Due in this Wednesday at Sports Cards Plus is 2012-13 Intrigue Basketball.  Each 11-card box has THREE Autographs and ONE Memorabilia card, including milti-player prime and jersey tag memorabilia featuring two, three and four player combinations.  

Each box contains a 5-card Intriguing Players Pack, featuring only the game's top 20 players, with ten different versions of each player to deliver the thrill of the chase and maximum value.  Each card utilizes state-of-the art technology with custom foil etches for 3D feel!


Also due in Wednesday is the MUCH IMPROVED 2013 Certified Football!  Certified boxes will have four hits with at least one auto.  Each box delivers three Mirror parallels of Red, Blue Gold, Emerald and Black versions numbered 250 or lower. 

Every 24-box case has THREE HOT BOXES where EVERY BASE CARD is replaced by a Platinum Parallel version.   Certified will feature basic Rookie Cards as well as Freshman Fabrics for the 40 players who attended the NFL Rookie Premiere.   Last year, Panini profiled John Elway with inserts and autographs.  This year, you will find Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith inserts and autographs.

2013 Prizm Baseball is also due in Wednesday.  Each box delivers two autographs which include legends such as Cal Ripken, Frank Thomas, Mike Piazza, Ryan Sandberg, Roger Clemens, Craig Biggio, and Jeff Bagwell.  Autographs include current superstars such as Mariano Rivera, Mike Trout, Stephen Strasburg, and projected Rookie of the Year Yasiel Puig.  All cards come with Prizmatic Parallels including Gold (#d/10) and Black 1/1s.  New this year is a Die Cut Orange Parallel #d/50 which are only available in Hobby Boxes.
