My love for sports card collecting started at the age of nine when I watched the 1957 World Series on our 12-inch black and white TV.
In 1982, my two sons (8 and 10 years old) approached me asking if they could start collecting sports cards. We drove all over Ohio visiting card shops and attending card shows, buying and selling cards to add on to our collections.
We moved back to San Antonio and started selling at card shows in 1985. There were as many as three different card shows going on at the same time every weekend.
In 1992 there were 53 sports card shops in San Antonio. We decided to join in and open Sports Cards Plus in 1992. In the years since then, we've seen ups & downs on the business side of sports cards collecting but we always loved what we did.
In the last three years, Sports Cards Plus has seen tremendous growth in the industry. Growth I never immagined when we opened our doors in 1992.
